October 23rd 2019, NS BlueScope Vietnam strengthens pioneering brand’s position and leading sector by officially launching Activate™ – The breakthrough technology for withstanding severe environments.

Activate™ technology with the 4 phases sets a new benchmark for Vietnam’s alloy coated steel industry.

The 4 phases technology is the achievement of more than 20 years of research and development, over 100 million Australian dollar of investment and more than 20 patents globally. Currently, ActivateTM technology is integrated into the new generation of NS BlueScope Vietnam – COLORBOND® and ZINCALUME® steels, offering the steel an unprecedented corrosion resistance and withstanding the test of time, even in severe environments.

“To ensure the highest durability of COLORBOND® and ZINCALUME® steels with ActivateTM technology, we have conducted a comprehensive testing programme for over 22 years. More than 8,000 profile panels have undergone Q-Fog cycling testing and salt spray testing in laboratories. A further 10,000 panels have been tested in 22 different real-world and severe exposure sites in Australia and around the world. Testing results** show that the new generation COLORBOND® and ZINCALUME® steels have strong durability, especially its superior corrosion resistance at cut edges, screw holes and scratches,” said Mr. Vo Minh Nhut, President of NS BlueScope Vietnam. The key factor behind ActivateTM extraordinary corrosion resistance lies in the unique composition and microstructure of the four phases, acting as four barriers to protect the base metal. This microstructure allows the new generation COLORBOND® and ZINCALUME® steels to create a self-sealing effect that greatly improves corrosion resistance at cut edges, screw holes and scratches. This mechanism protects roofs and walls from corrosion and provides an excellent durability. ActivateTM technology has been granted more than 20 patents globally for BlueScope’s industry leading alloy coating structure and its manufacturing process.
