Located at Darling harbor, upon its inception, Australia Maritime Museum is expected not to be a tourism site but also a harmonic link between the museum campus and relics of historical ships from Warship Pavilion Gallery.
To successfully realize this idea, the works were also faced with the most critical issue: The impact of maritime climate’s extreme elements at Darling harbor. That is why its roof and walls must not be only thin to optimize the internal use space but also fight against the external extreme corrosion.
With such special requirements, the selection of BENCHMARK heat-insulating plates with COLORBOND® Ultra - Woodland Grey® powered by ACTIVATE™ technology enabled the architect Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp to design a unique building, with high aesthetics, outstanding heat performance, and resistance to the extreme maritime climate of Darling Harbor.
By using the COLORBOND® sheet to harmonize the aesthetic values and optimal work protection performance, the warship gallery - Australia Maritime Museum is promised to become a new historical symbol for sustainable beauty.
