The Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that in the first 11 months of 2019, the total export turnover was estimated at US $ 241.42 billion, up 7.8% on-year. While the unstable world’s economy causes exports of many countries in the ASEAN region to stagnate, export growth indicates a positive trend of Vietnam’s economy.
Do Thang Hai, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade said that cross-border e-commerce has become an important channel for export of goods. Currently, up to 32% of Vietnamese businesses have established relationships with foreign partners through online channels. Concerning the Amazon e-commerce channel, according to Mr. Hai, this e-commerce channel with over 300 million member accounts in 185 countries and territories so selling products via Amazon that means these products can reach out to customers all around the world.
Sales through e-commerce platform have increased sharply, and brand has been gained in growing popularity in many countries and territories. Aware of the need for multi-stakeholder cooperation, the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) and Amazon Global Selling have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support enterprises to boost global exports through e-commerce as well as researched Brand Development of Vietnamese enterprises on e-commerce with Amazon.
Another key point in the cooperation agreement of the parties is that Amazon Global Selling, T&T Group, SHB Bank will coordinate to implement long-term strategies in Vietnam in the program of establishing and operating the centers to support Vietnamese enterprises to export via e-commerce at SHB’s major branches nationwide.
