NS BLUESCOPE VIET NAM SHARES PROJECT SAFETY MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE WITH OVER 100 BUSINESSES

Businesses are focusing on investments to ensure a safe and hygienic working environment according to global standards for employees.

On November 14, NS BlueScope Vietnam Co., Ltd and Ba Ria – Vung Tau Industrial Zones Authority (BIZA) held a review of an awareness program and shared experience on project safety and health management.

 

Mr. Vo Minh Nhut, President of NS BlueScope Vietnam, shared that the program aimed to support the business community in achieving the goal of zero labor accidents.

After one year of implementation in coordination with BIZA, more than 100 businesses in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province as well as neighboring provinces participated in numerous practical activities to enhance business awareness of building a safe labor culture. Specifically, it includes a series of specialized conferences on occupational safety and health management in enterprises, enhancing production efficiency and sustainable development,

Contractor management, energy source isolation, prevention of high falls and falling objects, etc. Enterprises also visited the real-life safety management model at NS BlueScope Vietnam’s factory.

Mr. Vo Minh Nhut – President of NS BlueScope Vietnam shared he always considers occupational safety as one of the top priorities for long-term sustainable development. Therefore, the company has continuously invested in ensuring a safe and hygienic working environment according to global standards for workers. At the same time, NS BlueScope Vietnam shared its accumulated experience in the process of building a safety culture with the business community, aiming to achieve the goal of accident-free manufacture.

“After a year of implementation, the program received enthusiastic response and positive feedback from many businesses. This will be the foundation for us to evaluate and further expand the program in the future,” shared Mr. Nhut.

 

Mr. Tran Huu Thong, Deputy Head of the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Industrial Zones Authority, highly appreciated the practicality of the program, especially in areas where many businesses operate in industries with potential labor risks such as Ba Ria – Vung Tau.

 

NS BlueScope Vietnam supplies hundreds of thousands of tonnes of coated steel to the market every year and sports a high occupational safety index in the industry. During its operation, the company built a safe working environment for its 400 employees, helping to increase productivity and business efficiency.

According to Mr. Tran Huu Thong – Deputy Head of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Industrial Zones Authority, the province is a concentration of many industrial parks and enterprises operating in heavy industries, mechanics, and construction materials. Therefore, occupational safety needs attention to ensure safety for businesses and the surrounding community.

“We value the practicality of the program pioneered by NS BlueScope Vietnam in the past year. Hopefully, businesses in the area will actively apply in practice the shared content for employees to work with peace of mind”, commented Mr. Thong.

 

The program attracted the participation of more than 100 enterprises in and outside the province.

The success of the program marks the second consecutive year NS BlueScope Vietnam has implemented activities to enhance occupational safety awareness and promote sustainable business development in the localities where the company’s manufacturing plants are located. Previously, the program was held in Dong Nai in early 2018 and received positive feedback from businesses in industrial parks.

NS BlueScope Vietnam will organize a seminar “Creating Competitive Advantages through Safety Culture” in Hanoi on November 29th, sharing practical experience, introducing the application of occupational safety in construction, and holding discussions on safety culture. The event will be a forum to share valuable experiences that help the business community enhance awareness and practical methods to gradually standardize occupational safety.
