ENTERPRISES ARE EARNING A FORTUNE FROM THE “FEAR OF THE FUTURE”

Automation is not a brand-new phenomenon and does not definitely foresee the extinction of manual jobs.

Our life is riddled with fears the majority of which are irrational arising from our instinct and consciousness. One of these fears is the fear of the future.

On the threshold of the Industry 4.0, every time and everywhere we have all heard the phrase “technological revolution” and that the artificial intelligence and robots will gradually replace people in millions of job in the not-so-distant future. We are always gripping ourselves with fear of inability to follow the worldwide development trends, of unemployment and poverty amongst robots.

However, amidst the fears for the future, for those who stand on their own feet, understand and acquire what is happening to well prepare for the future, changes in the current trend are opportunities.

Many enterprises are up to next level thanks to the fear of low labor productivity

The first Robotics Technical and Service Centre in Vietnam has just launched by ABB Group of Switzerland at the beginning of December 2018. At the launch, news surfaced that ABB has been in Vietnam and made 2 big deals, namely Vinfast with 1,000 robots in the automobile assembly line and a Vietnam’s leading electronic company with other 3,000 robots in the component production line.

With a rapidly developing economy and young population, Vietnam is transforming to become a global manufacturer. Accordingly, demand for robots is estimated to amount 1 million in 2020. However, most of the domestic industrial manufacturers are being lagged behind the rest of the world in the assembly automation revolution.

According to a recent survey by Ministry of Commerce and Industry, 61% of enterprises have yet to approach the Industry 4.0 and 21% have already entered the preparation phase. Besides, while acquiring knowledge on new technologies, enterprises will face shortage in digital-savvy human resources.

Event though future is the matter in the future, what people are currently aware of demonstrates that enterprises will be lagged behind with much lower productivity without automation. Robots are able to work 24/7 even without light while human are unable to do that. Automation will bring the domestic manufacturing sector up to the next level. Those enterprises that decide to adopt automation also leave a big gap with their competitors at least in the eyes of consumers who even have yet to touch the robot.

Observation from developed countries indicates that adoption of automation to production process could release labor forces and enhance productivity.

VinEco and TH… “safe” veggies production which do not meet the demand thanks to the fear of health

It is undeniable that people are increasing caring about their own health while a range of incurable diseases are spreading from eating habits. Thus, searching for natural food and drink is the number-one priority.

Wise consumers are really interested in the origin and quality of the product they buy wherever in supermarket or via e-commerce platform. Thus, both supermarket chains and e-commerce platforms closely monitor goods before forming partnership to sell.

Quickly understand consumers’ perception, a range of organic veggies farm have emerged. Look at VinEco clean veggies farm of Vingroup, established in 2015. Vingroup formed partnership with 3 partners Netafim (Israel), Kubota (Japan) and Teshuva Agricultural Projects – TAP (Israel) – widely known brands – to import clean agricultural production technologies.

VinEco clean veggies are planted in grass house and net house with sprinkler irrigation systems providing veggies direct nutrients. The robotic mechanism system on the large-scale field of the farm from production, farming to preservation ensures high-quality and safe products.

TH is not only well known for a fresh milk brand but has also grasped an opportunity to apply advanced technologies to FVF international clean veggies supply project. The modern grass house, farming, irrigating and providing nutrients are all automatic, which optimizes the product quality. The company’s products are distributed and displayed in a wide range of major supermarket and e-commerce platforms.

Vifarm high-tech clean veggies farm is well-known in Vung Tau with a wide variety of hydroponic veggies are planted by robotic sprinkler irrigation system. Farming process is programmed by computer which automatically activates and properly adjust temperature and moisture for plant growth.

Egroup earns a fortune
thanks to the fear of unemployment due to robots

Admittedly, Hollywood blockbusters have infused us with fears that artificial intelligence will hold the reins and go beyond the control of those who create it.

As a typical example in an “interview” with Sophia, a robot created by Hanson Robotics, USA and granted civil rights to become the world’s first robotic citizen, people are certainly surprised by Sophia’s answer related to robot’s awakening power. These are just vague and impractical anxieties.

Immediate fears are that robots are depriving millions off job from workers. AI capabilities in automation will replace repetitive job, which makes human labors redundant. Thus, unemployment due to robots may become the greatest fear of artificial intelligence.

However, experts state that AI has taken over millions of jobs but also create more employment opportunities for those taking ownership of the AI. On exploiting these fears and proposing solutions, education groups have taken initiative and earn a fortune with a wide range of training courses to help children know how to control robots at their early age.

According to Yang Seongwook, senior expert form SK Telecom, the Southern Korea’s leading communication group, “Children need educating at their early age. We are looking to the robotics age in the future. Similar to the past when most people were required to learn math during the industrial revolution, study about robotics coding is the most basic education in the digital age.”

Egroup Vietnam, a pioneer in the field, has signed agreement with SK Telecom to implement Smart Coding School. “Smart Coding School is the first product co-operated between SK Telecom and Egroup to realize the objective to develop modern education foundation in Vietnam. With diverse content, high applicability and creativity and children’s eagerness to learn, I believe that this product will gain in popularity among parents and their children.”

Automation is not a brand-new phenomenon and does not definitely foresee the extinction of manual jobs. In a discussion about automation, Elon Musk stated that “jobs that robots are unable to do become less and less”. Despite Musk’s statement about the future when robots will deprive us of job, he still forecasts that automation will make the society better and better.
