Visiting the green factory

recent times, the phrases “green factory” and “green building” have gained in growing popularity when not only somewhere in the world but also Vietnam has made gradual attempts to develop green buildings.

With regard to “green building”, its definition covers not only green tree parks, planting areas but also buildings, factories and constructions sites that meet the GREEN criteria of minimizing energy consumption, operating on an environment-friendly basis and producing GREEN products and services by nature.

At a year-end day, we visit DTK Phu Tho factory – a Japanese-tech “spotlessly clean” chicken egg production factory of DTK Corporation. It is the world’s leading green-tech chicken egg production factory and Vietnam’s first factory to be able to control bio-safety throughout clean and nutritious egg production process from disease prevention hygiene to quality of breed.

The factory was built in a total area of 42 hectares in Phu Tho, about 100km away from Hanoi with a total investment of over VND 800 billion and a total capacity of 175 million eggs per annum. The factory was built in an “ecotone”, which enables the whole factory to be isolated from the surrounding environment, to avoid harmful effects and to be infected with diseases from outside poultry.

In addition, to ensure bio-safety, the factory adopts extremely strict sterilization process with 5 steps that must be carried out by any staff. Starting from “sterilization bath” for trucks at the entrance gate.

To washing hand with bio-alcohol, stepping over sterilization tray to eliminate bacteria attaching to shoes, taking sterilization bath and changing the specialized protective clothing to get ready to enter into the factory.

These processes will be repeated in different divisions while staffs are moving among areas to ensure complete sterilization applied for all phases during the egg control process.

DTK breeds are all imported in accordance with the Hy-line Group’s standards, hatched and raised in accordance with standards of the Hytem housing system.

Hy-Line chicken breeds are hatched and raised in accordance with set standards before being brought back to the chicken egg laying area. The chicken produce is then brought back to the clean chicken egg production area to start the chicken egg production process.

Housing area is imported from Japanese advanced production line with Nagakawa water purification system. Temperature, humidity an wind control systems are imported from Japan, adjusted accordingly for practical conditions.

All chicken eggs are automatically collected with the advanced conveyor belt imported from Israel, then transported to the center get automatically cleaned, classified and packaged.

The breed hatching area

Animal feed and veterinary medicine are all produced by itself. It is the only chicken egg production factory in Vietnam to be able to produce both veterinary medicine and animal feed.

The automatic collection, classification and packaging processes eliminate surrounding factors, microorganism and harmful bacteria on the eggshell surface.

Regarding product quality testing, on a daily basis, experts get at least 30 eggs per batch tested for egg weight, hardness, yolk color, albumen height and freshness (Haugh measurement) and eggshell thickness.

After getting rid of substandard product, finished eggs are packed with the Japanese NABEL system. Finished eggs have to satisfy high criteria such as freshness – Rated AA standard (on the 72-point HU scale) in accordance with American Agricultural Ministry standards, the yolk color rated from 12 to 14 on the 15-point color scale and high-level protein/lipid indicators.

After getting packed, eggs will be put into cold storage at 15 Celsius Degree and then taken to distribution system within 24h with means of specialized transportation.

After being put into cold storage, eggs will transported to distributors. Each egg dozen sold in the market will be labeled the seal of origin and packed by dozen.

All chicken manure of the factory is collected and treated with probiotic fermentation method imported from Ecotech in Japan, which produces a clean organic fertilizer product.

Nowadays, green building trend is growing rapidly in the industrial sector. However, there are a limited number of enterprises that solely focus on green building. Given the green trend all over the world, it is highly that enterprises will gradually approach green buildings not only to serve for the sake of the whole society but also to enhance its standing and meet the world’s common criteria.
